Christmas Cruise - {portrait photography}

A few years back I visited the gorgeous island of Lifou as part of a Christmas cruise. I didn't know anything about photography back then, but armed with my camera set to auto, I marched off the boat into another world.

After nearly killing ourselves marching up to the top of the hill to view the local landmark and tourist highlight; then puffing and gasping for a drink we marched all the way back down. Plunking ourselves on the beach where we had a swim and lazed in the sun, where we were immediately joined by a group of children who thought it would be great fun to be photographed. So promptly started to get our attention by proceeding to entertain us by running in and out of the water and splashing about. (With mums permission) I hurriedly started shooting... I just love candid photography especially children.

These photos are not great, and not all sharp (tut tut!)....

oh what I could do given the same opportunity again!!!

It was like Christmas all over coming across them in my study tidy-up;

they bring back so many wonderful memories,

and I just love them (regardless of faults).

Nicole - {portrait photography}

It was my extreme pleasure to be the chosen photographer to capture this wonderful family, and I would like to start this blog with you guys following this link -
(please watch Nicole's interview (video) too - on this link)

Nicole's story

http://au.tv.yahoo.com/home-and-away/features/article/-/16367672/brave-nicole-shares-her-story/

Nicole is one of the bravest, humblest, most gorgeous people I have ever had the honour in meeting. I am forever gobsmacked by her dignity as she faces this terrible disease. Nicole has pioneered to spread the awareness of Melanoma and endeavours to educate people with not only identifying the warning signs and prevention, but offers advice on how she herself has dealt with the disease, since she was diagnosed.

After first spotting a changing mole, then six months later a lump under her arm, Nicole has been in and out of hospital receiving treatment and trialling new drugs. She cherishes quality time with her family and when her health has allowed she has managed to tick lots of wishes off her bucket list - from visiting New York to spending time on the 'Home and Away' set.

Sometimes people come into your life,
and you know right away that they were meant to be there,
to serve some sort of purpose,
teach you a lesson,
or to help you figure out who you are
or who you want to become.

Thank you Nicole

Walkies

Walkies  - {nothing serious just a bit of fun}

Meet Tilly and Jet, my dogs.

Tilly 13yrs, is officially 'not wired right', and is a prozac junkie, along with pain killers for her bone disease and tropical medication to combat her itching as her body is covered in walnut sized warts. Totally bonkers - and possibly might-en have seen this ripe old age had she not been part of our family. I truly believe she was supposed to be with us, I don't think anyone else would have the patience. Saving grace - TOP rat catcher!

Now Jet is only 3, and has recently gone from a cheeky kid-like youngster, into a full on - grown a pair of balls - silverback. After having his first attempted kill in our garden which saw me carrying a semi alive huge lizard down to the local creek in our pool-net the other day. Mad sight!!!, this has left Jet as pleased as punch and ego the size of a Doberman.

I thought it would be fun today to take my camera out on our walk. Its a lot harder than you think, controlling two mad dogs and SLR. Neither were too impressed with the big black box clicking away, and were more interested in finding just that right blade of grass ...........
